I'm worried that my car isn't really pro-baby.
I drive a racecar.
Well, not really but close.
The kind of car that high school boys obsessed with The Fast and the Furious dream of.
A 6spd, two door, car with a body kit, rims, and an itty bitty back seat barely big enough for Gracie.
But, it did get a 5-star crash rating.
I'm really gonna miss her but she's gotta go...
... since baby's carseat won't fit in the backseat.
Silly car makers didn't design sports cars with families in mind.
But what should I get...
SUV?
Crossover?
Sedan?
or dare I say, Minivan?!
I'm a girl who has never had a regular car, I had a bright yellow Mustang before I bought the Acura.
Practical cars just don't appeal to me. But safety comes first, and baby comes first!
So.... I'm asking you my dearest blog friends, what mommy-mobile do you drive?
Try a Mustang! Now that's a tough car to put people in the backseat...lol. But I don't think I'd ever get rid of it :) How about a sporty sedan; Fusion, LS, Charger etc.
ReplyDeleteOkay I am voting no on the minivan, but that is just me! :) I refuse...no matter how many kids I end up with! We have a Trailblazer that I really like---easy to get a car seat in/out. I also have a crossover (Dodge Caliber) which has wonderful safety ratings and gets great gas mileage. But it's much smaller---and when I am putting my 30-lb 2 year old in and out of the middle seat too often---it can get tricky sometimes :)
ReplyDeleteGoooood luck! Take the car seat with you to the dealer and try them out on all of your options. That's what we did before we got the SUV! :)
I always thought the Ford Escape hybrid would be a good mom car. Cute, and totally practical!
ReplyDeleteI want a Ford Flex - way out of my budget but the perfect "young mommmy" car. The hubby even like it and he's all about trucks or fast cars!
ReplyDeleteI will not sell my sports car. I worked too long and too hard to get it. It will stay in the family.
ReplyDeleteWe are probably going to get a Charger when it comes time for a baby. But I'm not selling my car.
I'd also deal with a CX-7 if I had to get something big.
I have a Dodge Caliber too and I *was* thinking family & dog friendly car when I bought it this summer... not that I'm thinking about having a baby anytime soon but the car loan WAS for 5 years! Haha. I love it. It's comfortable and feels roomy enough inside.
ReplyDeleteWe are buying a Ford Edge early next year. I have a 97 Camry right now and although I LOVE it and would buy another Camry in a second, we really want something closer to an SUV/crossover and this seems to be what fits for us. Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a mommy, but I'm pretty sure that both my Prius and my hubby's VW Rabbit will make the transition. If I were going to buy a brand new family car (and money were no object) I'd probably lean toward to a Subaru Outback.
ReplyDeleteHmm no kids here, but as the oldest of six, I refuse to have more kids than can fit in an SUV!! :) My vote would be that :))
