It's the Little Things

My house is getting it's finishing touches on it's paint job right now! The other night, I was amazed to come home to a freshly pressure washed house and patios and couldn't believe that the week of painting was finally here! I like to call our little house the ugly duckling, she has potential to be beautiful and we are making that happen! Today the outside will be complete and by Sunday the interior will all be freshly painted, including the nursery! So, when I come back from staying with my parents (since can't be around the fumes) all I have to do is come back and decorate!

I couldn't be more excited!

Here's a little background on our house....
Our poor little house wasn't beautiful when we moved in but we knew it had potential. But right before we were to move in one of our giant oak trees fall on the right side of the house and injured her, as well as the whole right side of our yard. (You can see our roof patch where the shingles need to go). Well not only did the tree dent the house but it took out the landscaping on the whole right side of the yard... see the mark on the right of the house from where my raised beds were, now it's just clay and in front of that are trenches where the giant root system of the tree was. I can't wait for them to finish all the outside repairs and painting so I can start on my landscaping to get my yard back into shape. But that might have to wait until after baby. Anyways...

Here's the outside after the tree debris was gone:
And as of this morning:

and as of tonight:
Don't yall think that paint really makes a difference?

Now just the roof is left, then landscaping time, for a finished look!
It's funny how something like new paint has put a smile on my face all day :)

Wishful Wednesday... Bedrooms

'I wish' .... I Could Come Home to This Bedroom Every Night!
This was such a fun topic, even though it took a lot of searching to find a picture close to what I wanted. My dream bedroom is spacious, comfy, romantic, with a southern-coastal twist.
I love this bedding:
With this reading area and a makeup alcove like this:
I LOVE Tiffany Blue/Turquoise with white furniture along with mirrored and crystal accents.

Head on over to Kelsey's for more beautiful bedrooms!

Friday Fun

TGIF YALL!

Here's the rules, copy the questions and answer them on your blog then link back up over at Mama M's place and check out everyone elses answers!

Questions for Friday, May 14th:

1. Take your pick...date night, girls night out, or night out alone?
Can I have one of each... no? Umm okay girls night out, it's been awhile since we were all reunited!
2. Can you touch your nose with your tongue?
Ummm let me check... just the bottom of it. (don't even tell me you didn't just try it)
3. What is your favorite flower and why?
Orchids, they are just so pretty and delicate, plus they smell good!
4. If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself?
Don't put up with stuff you don't have to, remember you can walk away from any bad relationship. Oh and put your girls first, they are the ones that will be there in the end.
5. If you won the lottery, what is the very first thing you would do?
Take my entire family on a fun trip to somewhere tropical to celebrate! Then pay off everyone's debts and by myself a new house by the beach.

Top 2 Tuesday... Dream Houses

Taylor picked one of my favorite topics for this week's Top 2 Tuesday
DREAM HOUSES

I would love to live by the beach in this house
(HGTV Dream Home in Islamorada)

But this would be my main home...
(this house is actually for sale, you can buy it from here)
located on plenty of acres perfect for all my horses!

It would also include a gourmet kitchen, like this from HGTV's webstie
and a backyard entertaining area, complete with a pool like this

Be sure to stop by The Undomestic Momma and check out what everyone else picked!

Random Updates

It's the first Monday in May and my life has finally slowed down. Session is over, at least for this year. Our bills have passed, our clients are happy (well the majority of them) and I will no longer be working 12-hr days, Yay!

Oh, I've finally had time to post a Menu Plan for the week posted at Surviving the Kitchen, I took a two-week hiatus, and hopefully I can stick to it. This weekend I did some deep cleaning around the house and boy does it look 100 times better. You never know how dirty things really are, it's amazing how a little deep cleaning can make things look brand new.Plus, it feels so good to come home to a clean house.
Life is good!

In other news, I looked at houses over the weekend and nothing quite compares to "my house" that was taken from me...(Someone put a bid in about an hour prior to mine, taking my poor little house right out from under me). House hunting is stressful and now that that $8k tax credit is gone, I'm taking it a lot slower. But seriously, all those years of watching House Hunters and all those other home buying shows on HGTV have helped me in the process. And I do know that somewhere out there is a house in my price range with my name on it. :)
Well, now to get caught up on emails and all my blogs waiting for me in Google Reader.
Happy Monday!

I Have House Fever

I made a mistake this weekend, I went to a condo sale. I found the perfect condo complex with the cutest layout ever, and they were "on sale", seriously they advertised them as a 'one day only sale'. Yes, I was one of those people, along with a bunch of foreigners and older people. But boy did I make sure I got to see every single condo that I wanted too, and poor Adam was dragged along, I'm sure he loved it, haha. Sadly my options for the floor plan I liked were limited by there was one that I 'could live with' if I wanted too. I think I've watched enough shows on TLC, HGTV, and FineLiving to know what's a 'good deal' and what's a rip-off. So, after adding in all those condo fees, I'm not sure I really like this potential new place anymore. For the price I could probably find a house, one with a yard and a garage. So what do I do, I start looking at houses online. Now I've found some cute little houses, only you never know from looking online. For all I know it could be next to some power plant or have neighbors with those awful stone 'garden decorations', you know the ones with the giant concrete horse, eek! I think that would scare Gracie to death. Haha. So now I will begin the process of searching for a new place, my first house, but don't worry I'm not gonna get ahead of myself and buy the first thing I see, I mean this is a HOUSE, something you're stuck with for like, forever.

Anyone have any tips on house shopping, or any crazy stories about it?
